Career Interests: It took me a long time in my life to figure out what I am really passionate about, but I realized that I have always been interested in design and coding. From the very start, things such as origami and puzzles have always intrigued me. I spent a lot of free time making cool inventions from Legos, or really anything that I could get my hands on. And playing video games also meant more to me than just passing time. I was always fascinated by all the little things that went into making something as complex as a video game. From all this, my interest in coding and engineering stemmed. Those are things that I am really excited to study and expand upon in my future and hopefully make a career out of them.
Favorite Quote: In the movie Batman Begins, Alfred Pennyworth famously said to Bruce Wayne, “Why do we fall, sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.” When I first heard this as a kid, I thought it was just a random pep talk to boost Bruce’s ego and didn’t really pay much attention to it. However, as I moved further along in my life, I always found myself coming to back to this saying and realized how much of a deeper meaning it had. My adolescent life felt like anything but smooth sailing. Whether it be academic mistakes, or setbacks in athletics, I always thought that I was constantly failing and was as far from my goals as possible. Unfortunately, it took me quite a while to realize that every time I failed, I also gained a lot of useful skills and knowledge to help me move further in life. Eventually, I realized that while failure is terrible, it is also normal, and what counts is getting back up after failing. There is so much to learn from one’s mistakes and without the taste of failure, one will never truly feel what it is like to succeed. And the only way that failure is ever permanent is if one allows it to prevent the continuation of life and success.
